The City Commission appoints members to various Authorities and Commissions, which aid in carrying out the services provided by the City of Cedartown. The organizations are listed below: |

Auditorium Commission (Cedartown Civic Arts Commission)
- The Auditorium Commission has general charge, supervision, and control of the care and use of the Cedartown Civic Auditorium.
The Auditorium Commission consists of ten (10) members. The term of the office of each member shall be two years. Appointments for membership on the commission shall be made by nominations from the Auditorium Commission, subject to confirmation and approval by the City Commission.
The Auditorium Commission meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Cedartown Civic Auditorium, 205 East Avenue, Cedartown, Georgia.
Cedartown Development Authority
- The Cedartown Development Authority’s function is for the purpose of assisting, promoting, establishing and developing new industries, and assisting, promoting and expanding existing industry, agriculture, trade and commerce within the territory embraced by the corporate limits of the City of Cedartown, for the public good and general welfare of the city and its citizens.
The Cedartown Development Authority consists of seven (7) members who serve for a term of five (5) years. The members are appointed by the City Commission of the City of Cedartown.
The Cedartown Development Authority does not have a set meeting schedule.
Cedartown Housing Authority
- The Cedartown Housing Authority Board oversees the operations of the Cedartown Housing Authority, a public entity established to administer federally funded housing and rental assistance programs.
The Cedartown Housing Authority consists of six (6) members. The term of the office of each member shall be five years. Appointments for membership to the Authority Board shall be made by nominations from the Housing Authority Board, subject to confirmation and approval by the City Commission.
The Cedartown Housing Authority meets the third Monday of every month at 4:00 p.m. in the Grayfield Apartments Auditorium, 344 West Avenue, Cedartown, Georgia.
Cedartown Planning Commission
- The Planning Commission has all powers, duties and responsibilities as set forth in the Georgia Planning Act, as amended, O.C.G.A. §36-70-1 et seq., including, but not limited to, the power to consider applications for rezoning a particular district within the corporate limits of the city, the power to amend the provisions as needed and the power to make recommendations to the City Commission concerning rezoning requests and ordinance amendments.
The Planning Commission consists of five (5) members who serve for a term of three (3) years. The members are appointed by the City Commission of the City of Cedartown.
The Planning Commission meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the City Council Room of City Hall, 201 East Avenue, Cedartown, Georgia.
Cedartown Tree Commission
- The Cedartown Tree Commission’s function is to study, investigate, counsel and develop and/or update annually and administer a written plan for the care, preservation, pruning, planting, replanting, removal or disposition of trees in the parks, along streets and in other public areas. Such plan will be presented annually to the city commission and upon its acceptance and approval shall constitute the official comprehensive city tree plan for the city. The Tree Commission, as requested by the City Commission, shall consider, investigate, make findings, report and recommend upon any special matter of question coming within the scope of these duties.

Downtown Development Authority
- The Downtown Development Authority’s function is for the purpose of developing and promoting for the public good and general welfare, trade, commerce, industry and employment opportunities in the downtown development area.
The Downtown Development Authority consists of seven (7) members who serve for a term of six (6) years. The members are appointed by the City Commission of the City of Cedartown.
The Downtown Development Authority does not have a set meeting schedule.
